The Thirteenth Israeli Open Tournament - 19.2.21-21.2.21

We're pleased to announce that the 13th Israeli Open Scrabble Tournament will take place on February 19th - February 21st, 2021. 

At the moment (August 2020), we are going forward with the event. Subject to Coronavirus restrictions, the event might be cancelled. Watch this space.

Format

Pairings: 22 rounds, Chew pairings.
Challenges: 5 points per move (not per word!)
Rules: WESPA4 (or the most up-to-date version in effect)
Prizes: A prize fund of at least NIS6000 (~1500 Euros) is guaranteed if 36 players register. It may increase, depending on registration. First prize 40%, second prize 20%, third prize 10%, two category prizes (A, B, 10% each), debut prize for player participating in Israeli Open for the first time (10%). Additional non-cash prizes for various achievements. Players may receive one cash prize only. A player is first eligible for a standings prize, then a category prize, then the debut prize.

NIS 400. The first 15 players to register will receive a refund of NIS 50 at the tournament.

Cancellation policy: The registration fee is non-refundable.

How to register in a few easy steps:

1.       Read the tournament information well (https://www.scrabble.org.il/israeli-open).

2.       Contact Maureen (above) with any questions.

3.       Pay. There are four payment options:

a. Cash to Maureen.

b. BIT transfer to Evan (only for Israeli players)

c. Paypal to Evan (contact Evan for details)

d. Bank transfer to Maureen (contact Maureen for details)

4.       If selecting the Paypal option, contact Evan (evangarycohen@gmail.com) to confirm receipt.
